Thumbs Up Hispanic Woman with Ghosted House Drawing, Partial Photo and Rolling Green Hills Behind.

We highly recommend Pine Ridge Construction. We had a major renovation of our home, which included total demolition of half of our house, foundation creation, construction and renovation and complete finishing work complete with paint and molding.

Joe Haas, the owner of the company, provided an accurate and fair price estimate at the start of the job and kept to his estimate. He was even gracious to provide the little extras, e.g., raising the ceiling, built in linen closet and other specials touches at no extra cost, just because he felt it would look better and make us happy.

Joe also provided an accurate time estimate for job completion. I was pleasantly surprised that his estimate was spot on.

Joe was at my house every single day to make sure the renovation was the highest quality and that we were happy with the work. He was very patient and offered advice when we were undecided about certain decisions.

Pine Ridge Construction was better than I could have ever asked for, especially hearing of other’s horror stories with construction companies. One final comment is he provides a generous warranty of his work. About 4 years after the renovation, our master bathroom had a minor leak in the shower stall. He immediately responded that night and replaced the floor with new tiles, of my choosing, that same week.

It bears repeating that we were more than satisfied with the craftsmanship and integrity of Joe Haas and Pine Ridge Construction. We would be happy to answer any questions.

5 Ways To Utilize Custom Molding

Custom molding in a home is just like the decorative icing on a cake. Sure, a standard coating of vanilla icing might taste just as good, but it’s the added decorative piping around the edges that makes it a thing of beauty. That being said, if you’re looking to put the finishing touches on your home, custom molding is the way to go.

  1. Create an illusion. If you’ve got low ceilings, we’ve got crown molding. Adding a simple, elegant, English-style molding up top can trick the eye and give your room the height it’s lacking.
  1. Simplify a space. In a room with intricate design elements, a sleek trim choice can help tone down the space. Plain molding will finish off the room without taking away from its existing architectural features.
  1. Clean it up. If modern style is what you seek, a thin trim will help you accomplish your goal. Using a slender molding style, trim your doorways, baseboards and ceiling to create a classic, calm and airy allure.
  1. Crown the cabinets. Attach some eye catching crown molding to your kitchen cabinets to refresh their look. Not only will it transform them from bland to beautiful, but the addition of crown molding will add height and create additional hidden storage space above your cabinets.
  1. Decorate the walls. Get creative with your custom molding and decorate your walls however you desire. From traditional wainscoting, to sophisticated framed panels, trim work can help you decorate your walls in a unique and interesting way.

If you’re interested in installing custom molding in your home, Pine Ridge Construction is here to help! Our team of highly skilled trimmers are well-versed in woodworking and have the knowledge necessary to help you choose and install the perfect crown molding for your property.

Home Renovations: What Not To Do

As homeowners, every penny that we pour into home improvement has two distinct purposes: To improve the quality and comfort of living, and to boost the home’s resale value. Unfortunately, some renovation projects accomplish the latter more easily than others, and some don’t accomplish it at all! In order to help you avoid wasting money on renovations that will drag your home’s value down, here are some of the most common home improvement ideas to reconsider.

Woman Painting the Wrong Color on a Wall

Converting a Garage – If your home has only one garage, especially if it’s tight on storage space as it is, you might want to rethink that garage-turned-man cave dream. Buyers are keen on homes that have functioning garages, especially in areas where heavy rain and harsh weather conditions abound.

Eliminating a Bedroom – While it might seem like a great idea to snag some space from an old, unused bedroom, think again. You might enjoy an oversized master bedroom with a walk-in closet and en suite — courtesy of your grown and moved out children — but your home’s next owner might not. Opening up walls and combining rooms eliminates options for private living space, which can drastically drop the value of your home.

Building Without a Permit – Nothing puts a damper on a good deal like finding out that the home of your dreams has had a ton of renovations made without acquiring permits first. Not only is unpermitted work unreliable and unsafe, but it can also costs a homeowner a ton of money and headache should they be fined by their local municipality in the future. For that reason, buyers want to see that all renovations have been completed up to code with copies of the proper permissions.

How to Maintain Your Deck During Winter

Have you caught yourself gazing out the back door lately, just imagining how happy you’ll be when winter ends and you’re free to enjoy sunny days basking out on the deck? If so, you’re certainly not alone. The winter weather blues are definitely contagious, but luckily there are a few ways to beat them — starting with some TLC for your beloved deck.

Keep it clean. It’s no surprise that your deck is probably looking pretty dirty with all of the snowy, windy weather we’ve been having this winter. One of the easiest ways to keep your deck in great shape is by keeping it as clean and clear as possible. Make sure to keep snow and ice buildup to a minimum, and sweep off any leaves or natural debris regularly.

Clear the way. If you haven’t done so already, remove any outdoor furniture and decor from your deck and store them elsewhere for the winter. Wood has a natural tendency to weather during cold, wet conditions, so leaving furniture atop a deck can cause it to weather unevenly.

Check for damage. In order for your family to be able to enjoy the benefits of a deck it must be deemed structurally sound. Over time, especially during tough seasons like winter, a deck can become damaged, which might compromise its safety. Be sure to check on and under your deck, looking for any mold, mildew, rot, popped nails or splinters.

Plan summer renovations. Would a portico, pergola or gazebo be a stunning addition to your existing deck? If so, the time to start planning those outdoor renovations is now. Make sure you start your home construction projects early, so you’ve got more time to enjoy them all spring and summer long.

If you live in Suffolk County or the surrounding area and are ready to start designing your new or existing deck, the Pine Ridge Construction team is eager to meet you!

No matter what your project plans entail, our expertise will more than meet your needs and exceed your expectations. We promise to be there every step of the way, from planning, to permit acquisition and especially throughout the physical construction process.

3 Ways to Renovate Your Basement

Most homeowners don’t make use of their unfinished basement space, using it for disorganized storage and a place to stow away seasonal decor. But, did you know that finishing your basement can actually bring value to both your lifestyle and your home’s overall ROI?

If you’re considering embarking on a basement renovation project in the future, here are three great ways to make sure you make the most of your blank canvas.

  1. Bust out the popcorn. Who doesn’t dream of having a home theater to stream Netflix with family, or watch the big game with friends? If you’re ready to bring the ultimate viewing experience right to your doorstep, the basement is the perfect place for your custom built theater. Being underground mean the space is naturally dark, which makes dimming the lights for the feature presentation that much easier.
  1. Work on your physique. If you’re tired of paying monthly fees and being too exhausted after work to even drag yourself to the gym, a home gym is perfect for you. Not only will you cut costs on memberships for your whole family, but your basement gym will remain a cool temperature, making it the perfect place to work up a sweat. With a gym right beneath your feet, you can say goodbye to all those excuses for good!
  1. Perfect a playroom. Let’s face it, when you have kids you’d be hard pressed to find an area of the home that has yet to be taken over by toys. However, turning your unused basement into a playroom might be the perfect solution to the toy epidemic. Not only will a designated play area keep your toys contained, but it will keep your kids occupied as well! The best part of a basement playroom is that it can grow with your children. As they get older you can switch out the play kitchen and blocks for foosball and a pool table.

Regardless of how you’d like to make use of your basement space, our team of builders can help you design a new basement that fits your family’s needs perfectly.

At Pine Ridge Construction we take pride in offering honest, reliable, quality home renovation and construction solutions at an affordable price. To learn more about our services call 631-392-0927 today!
